Our Mission
Our mission is to avert disastrous Climate Change by drawing attention to essential, effective policy choices. Our message is directed to organizations and individuals who care deeply about the state of our planet and our future. Well-informed citizens will require policy makers to make and implement the necessary decisions.
THE STATE OF THE PLANET
From increasingly severe droughts and storms to scarcity-induced conflicts and refugees, the effects of Climate Change are already with us and getting worse. Climate Change will become irreversible if we do not act quickly and on a massive scale.
The IPCC Special Report on global warming (8 October 2018) noted that limiting global warming to 1.5ºC would require rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society. “We are already seeing the consequences of 1°C of global warming through more extreme weather, rising sea levels and diminishing Arctic sea ice ....” observed an IPCC co-chair. With 2°C, we risk irreversible changes.
OUR GOALS
“Saving Our Planet” responds to this challenge by promoting scientifically founded knowledge, so that people will be equipped to demand effective actions to protect our planet from irreversible degradation. An informed citizenry will no longer accept the continued emission of greenhouse gases that threaten the survival of life as we know it on this planet.
OUR TOOLS
Our website is an abundant source of knowledge useful to many types of visitors, from the novice to the committed activist.
Our Document Library offers a wide range of selected documents related to the climate science, energy, technology, economics, politics, land and water use, research and development, international cooperation, and other issues related to climate and sustainability.
